Accessing Windows Folders Through GoGlobal

Problem:

I am trying to publish either Windows Explorer or am trying to provide access to a single Windows file folder through GoGlobal.

Resolution:

Please note that you SHOULD NOT publish Windows Explorer (explorer.exe), as this WILL cause problems when running GoGlobal.

If you would like to publish a file folder or an explorer browser to access local files on the server, you may publish Interent Explorer (C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe) with the command line switch of "-e". Optionally, you may then append an additional command line parameter to include the directory path, as shown below:

-e "C:\Program Files"

These parameters would be specified in the "Command-Line Options" box of the "Application Properties" window in the GoGlobal Cluster Manager.

Note that the security rights and permissions granted to the GoGlobal user in Windows will be effective.

ALTERNATE METHOD FOR SERVERS RUNNING INTERNET EXPLORER 7.0 or LATER: The above steps will NOT work for Internet Explorer 7.0, as this version included some changes in the behavior that cause it to behave more similarly to Windows Explorer. Instead, please use the following instructions if your server has IE 7.0 or later installed:

1) Browse to your C:\Windows (or C:\WinNT depending on your operating system) and make a copy of the "explorer.exe" file contained within.

2) Rename this copy to "fexplorer.exe."

3) Publish the fexplorer.exe program through GoGlobal, specifying a path in the command-line options if desired (e.g. "C:\Program Files\").

NOTE: Do NOT publish explorer.exe itself (only the renamed copy as outlined above), as this will cause serious problems in GoGlobal.
