GEN_SQLCRY
GEN_SQLCRY Crystal Reports and MSSQL Server 2005
Problem:
Crystal Reports XI will not run if HelpDesk is installed on MSSQL Server 2005 or newer.
Cause:
MSSQL Server 2005 or newer, that Crsytal does not properly support ODBC, which our current reports were developed with. Business Objects has suggested usnig ADO instead, which is now the path in which MicroSoft is taking.
Solution:
In order to run any Crystal Report, we would require you have a copy of Crystal XI installed (a version that allows you to design reports). Then you would have to open each report and relink the fields on the report to the database. This only effects MSSQL Server 2005 and newer.
The ODBC support currently still remains in place for older servers 2000 and 2003.
However, you can customize your own reports. You can use any reporting application of your choice as long as it's compatible to your environment and can read SQL Tables. The draw back is you would not be able to run the reports from within HelpDesk drop down reort menu, unless they where customized with Cyrstal XI.
