TT_HDSECUR
TT_HDSECUR Update requires Admin rights to apply
Tech Tip:
To update a Tele-Support HelpDesk Client Workstation, requires Admin rights to apply
This is a standard Windows Security, and by default non-Admin users do not have rights to right to the Program Files directory or rights to one or more of the directories in Program Files.
To enable the right, which is NTFS File Security, log onto the workstation as admin user, right click on Program Files, click on Security, select Users and check full control.
If there is no Security tab, then you need to first enable NTFS File Security, this is done as follows:
Logged into the workstation as Admin User, go to Admin Tools in control panel
select Local Securities
select Local Policy
select Security Options
select Network Access sharing and security model for local access
click on the drop down menu and change to 'classic'
Now, go back to Program Files, right click, select the Security tab, select Users and check full control.
This change may take a some time, as it needs to apply the setting to all files in the Program Files directory. Do not log off or close until the settings are complete.
Once complete, then log off and have your non-Admin user log on, and they should now be able to apply the updates.
Just an additional note regarding security policy for local user, you can actual set the local security directly to the helpdesk client directory (eg. c:\program files\helpdesk321 client) instead of the Program Files directory
