Technical Notice regarding
Microsoft Dot.Net 1 requirement
for ACT! 2007 - 2009
ALL VERSIONS of ACT! (2005 and above) working with Tele-Support HelpDesk require that
Microsoft.net framework 1.1 be installed on each workstation running HelpDesk and ACT!
HelpDesk, to maintain backwards compatibility with all version of ACT!, still requires that
Microsoft.net framework 1.1 be installed on workstations that will access ACT! (2005-2009).
Previous versions of ACT! (2005-2006) automatically installed the Microsoft.net framework 1.1 on
each workstation that accessed ACT!. So, if you've migrated from ACT! 2005 or 2006 and it was
installed on a particular workstation, then you do have to do anything additional for
that workstation.
If you do NOT have Microsoft.net framework 1.1 installed on a workstation (remember, ACT! 2007 to 2009 do not install
version 1.1, then you should take the following steps.
|
1.
|
DOWNLOAD the Microsoft.net framework 1.1 Installer
This will download the file "DOTNETFX.EXE".
It is preferable to download the file to the "installers" directory on the HelpDesk Server. This is often
found at .....\\server\.....\server\installers.
|
|
2.
|
To install, you can startup up the HelpDesk client (helpdeskstart4.exe) and if required, it will
automatically run the program you just downloaded into the 'installers' directory.
Or, you could install it manually by browsing out to the 'installers'
directory and running the downloaded file (dotnetfx.exe) directly.
|
REMEMBER: The Microsoft.net framework 1.1 is REQUIRED to run HelpDesk with all versions of
ACT! (2005 - to 2009).
Running this install, depending on the Microsoft site, your download speed, and
computer's speed, could take anywhere from fifteen minutes to thirty plus.
